What it does

Acid neutralisation handles the acidic stream produced by salt conversion. The acid is brought into contact with abundant alkaline minerals — the same kinds of rocks that Earth uses in its natural weathering cycle to consume atmospheric CO2 over geological timescales. The output is a neutral, benign material that can be safely returned to the environment. No exotic feedstocks, no harmful by-products, no waste streams requiring disposal.

Why it matters

Many carbon removal pathways generate problematic by-products. Ocean Ionics does not. By neutralising the acid with abundant minerals, we accelerate a process the planet already runs on its own. The acid produced upstream is consumed; the minerals dissolve into harmless components; the cycle closes cleanly. This is what makes the overall system circular and sustainable at commercial scale.
